About me…
I’m a speculative fiction writer who grew up in a family of classically trained musicians, and my work has always been informed richly and powerfully by music. I have a B.A. in creative writing from Indiana University and a Master of Fine Arts in fiction from North Carolina State University. My work has been published in a variety of journals, produced on regional stages, and won several awards. My book of linked short stories, Modus Perfectus, was published by Paper Angel Press in 2023. I’m currently working on my series of novels, The Last-Lorn Ship on the Brimful Puddle. In 2024, I was one of 30 creatives from around the state accepted into Indiana Arts Commission’s On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator program, in connection with which I will be carrying out a year-long fellowship project. Also in 2024, my book Modus Perfectus was a finalist in the Genre category in the Indiana Authors Awards. I live in my hometown of North Vernon, Indiana, where I work diligently to be worthy of the love of my dog (Hannibal, named after the historical Carthaginian general, not the fictional serial killer). I teach every imaginable kind of writing to tolerant college students, and I also teach four series of creative writing classes per year at Perceptions Yoga, Mindfulness & Art in Vernon, IN.
